How did you meet? Jared and I met in January of 2008 as legislative interns for the Tennessee General Assembly. I interned for the Republican leader’s office and he interned for the Democratic Speaker’s office. We were friends for a long time but after an amazing day at Steeplechase, the annual horse race, we knew we wanted more. After the internship ended, Jared was offered a job in Governor Bredesen’s office and I went to run a campaign for the state House of Representatives. I knew Jared was the one for me after several long nights of driving 60 miles back and forth to Nashville – he always had dinner for me and even pretended to have waited to eat!
How did he propose? Jared and I had been talking about getting engaged but he knew I would be hard to surprise. The weekend he proposed, Jared decided to adopt a basset hound for me, a dog I have wanted since childhood. I thought it was his way of delaying the proposal. And on that Sunday, he told me we had a private tour of the Ryman Auditorium for work. I was so excited about the tour & our new puppy that it never even occurred to me he was going to propose. We got to the Ryman and the security guard said let me go find the tour guide when he walked off, Jared proposed on stage – it was perfect! Of course, I was so busy screaming “Are you serious?” that he didn’t even get any of the romantic speech he had planned out.
Both Lauren and Jared will be completing their first year of law school in May and I am happy to be photographing their wedding on June 26th in Johnson City, TN! I was thrilled when they asked Stephanie and I to head west to Nashville for their engagement session. The locations worked great since they were all places where they met or spent lots of time together while they were dating. We even got some shots with their sweet puppy Franklin and at the Ryman where Jared proposed! To view their engagement slide show click below and ENJOY!
